Where Am I Going, You Ask?

Colorado has been my home for the past 19 years. I moved here after my best friend, Brita, and I both graduated from college. We wanted to “go somewhere.” Thankfully we landed a hop skip and a jump from our childhood homes in Nebraska because the first year we lived in CO, my sweet Grandma Jones passed away and then 4 short months later my mom died. I know God had a hand in moving us here instead of our original thoughts of Florida or Arizona so we could make it home.

We quickly became friends with those from both of our work places and to this day, I am still friends with many of these beautiful people. Just today, I got a big hug from my friend Debbie at the local bank. As I drove around Northern Colorado this week, I was flooded with so many memories of all the special people God has brought into my life over these past 19 years. It is quite honestly incredible. SO many people! SO much love!

So much life has happened over these years. So many experiences. So much joy and heartache. Blessings upon blessings. Suffering and trials. Rejoicing and praising. Sanctifying and shaping me to continue to look more and more like my Savior, Jesus. God has written a lot of my story with the location of Northern Colorado. I grew up here. I was saved here.

I had the privilege to live in 13 different places and because of that I have met the most amazing people. Neighbors, so many neighbors have become my dearest friends. God used my moving to help me build my real estate business too. He also used my business to cultivate a deeper love for serving and helping people accomplish one of the biggest parts of life, buying and selling homes. I never thought I would be a business owner, but God did and I am thankful!

Ok, Ok, where am I going, you ask?

About a year and a half ago, I met an amazing God-fearing man named Kurt. He and his 4 beautiful children live in Iowa. How in the world did I meet a man in Iowa you ask? Well, that would be the Holy Spirit working through my other best friend, Yolanda. I have prayed for years that I would meet man through mutual friends. Thanks Lord!

Kurt and I have been dating and spending intentional time getting to know each other. We both have traveled back and forth between Iowa and Colorado multiple times. About a year ago now, God placed on my heart to go and be closer so as to be able to get to know the children better. When asked, they all said “come if it works and you can.” So we all began to pray. Laying our thoughts and plans at the Lord’s feet. God was faithful to answer. He made a way for me to spend a couple of months last winter and then again this summer in Iowa with all of them.

The time being close, literally living down the street with their neighbor, has been such a gift. We have gotten to live life together, share meals together, have summertime fun at the pool and lakes, spend time getting to know neighbors, tell stories around the campfire, movie nights plus simple things like sitting around the table talking about life.

God moved in my heart pretty early on after meeting Kurt to make the move back to the Midwest where my heart has been longing to be for quite a few years now, but as many things in our lives, we get to wait for his perfect timing as we are grown and stretched in the waiting. And let me tell you, I wouldn’t want it to be any different, because the beauty I have experienced in this transition has been beyond amazing. The heart work God has done in me, is eternal work. So beautiful and hard all at the same time. I am changed. I am not the woman I was a year and a half ago when I met Kurt. That my friends is the power of the Holy Spirit at work.

God has taught me so much about relying on him. Waiting on him and praying. Trusting. Allowing him to heal me in ways I didn't even know I still needed to give me a deeper freedom in him. God is so faithful. He has led me/us every single step of the way. I am excited to see what he has in store next.

Thank you to everyone who has shared in this journey thus far. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for all you prayer warriors. You have been faithful to listen and pray. The best gifts ever! I know the Lord is listening.

On a business note, I am excited to share that I will continue to serve people in Colorado while I grow a business in Iowa, by working together with an amazing team, The Ewing Team still at Kentwood. I will introduce our plan more specifically soon, so if you are a Client of mine be on the lookout for a letter in the mail and know you are going to be cared for so well by not only me, but by Danielle, Justin and I.

You may be wondering about my family too because we are so close. I am thankful for a short flight from Omaha to Denver because I will be visiting often to see my precious siblings and their families. And now that I am in Iowa, I will be a short hop skip and jump from my Dad and Connie on the farm. We don't have to take the flying combine to share a meal together anymore, we can hop in the car and go hang out for the day. Blessings!

This story that God is writing is truly incredible. Stay tuned for the next chapter.

God bless you,

Andrea
